All my clients have pain. They have different stories, but I can't help feeling admiration for them. They have accepted their chronic condition, but they are trying to be positive and not giving in pain.
But still, pain is debilitating. When you feel down, I recommend a book "How to Live Well with Chronic Pain and Illness - A Mindful Guide" by Toni Bernhard. It talks about practical skills to cope each day and with troubling thoughts and challenges, and the importance of mindfulness.
Science and treatment is advancing, so keep doing research, try to find specialists in another city or state, and most importantly, take care of your mental health.
And this books also helps family, friends and caregivers of those who have chronic pain. If they have never experienced chronic pain, it is normal that they don't understand exactly what you are going through and know what to say or how to act. Those are discussed in the Section VII. It has examples of phrases that they want to use and a Not-To-Do list for caregivers.
