Find Inner Peace and Keep It for a Lifetime
Congratulations on embarking on a journey of learning Tai Chi! It requires patience, determination and a lot of practice. However, the reward is priceless. You will acquire inner peace that you can take with you anytime, anywhere and for a lifetime….
What is Tai Chi?
Tai Chi is a mindfulness exercise and the lowest impact exercise described as"Meditation in Motion" and is recommended by the Arthritis Foundation among others for pain management. Although originated in Chinese martial arts, it consists of a series of gentle and slow movements. Learning Tai Chi means you will learn a sequence of movements in a specific order from the beginning to the end, and try to perfect it. It's not a class where you drop in to do "Tai Chi exercises." You have to commit yourself to take time to learn the sequence of forms and try to perfect them over time. Here is a video of Yang style 8 Form (I teach modified forms for the leg kicks, so don't be intimidated).

What are the Benefits?
Tai Chi is known for strengthening your body and improving your balance and flexibility but it also benefits your cognitive and mental health. Focusing on the movement, being aware of your body, and being at the moment, creates a state of meditation and brings you peace. Tai Chi is NOT just for older people, but for EVERYBODY. It helps both adults and children with ADHD focus better. You can find more benefits here.

Why Private Lesson?
Most Tai Chi classes accept new students every week, so the teacher (normally only one) can't really accommodate each student with different levels/progress in the same class. When you can't keep up with the instruction, you don't probably feel comfortable to ask the teacher to hold the class. Learning Tai Chi shouldn't be frustrating because It's a journey to find peace and confidence within yourself. Tai Chi requires learning about the right foundation from the beginning. I've met some students who practiced Tai Chi for 20-30 years, but their movement wasn't flowing because they must have not learned the basics correctly. My students who only learned for 2 months could do better than them! I offer you a comfortable environment where you can learn Tai Chi correctly at your own pace with confidence. I customize lessons based on your learning style and offer tools such as videos, written instructions, and helpful tips throughout your journey so that you can practice at home between lessons.

What Do I Learn?
We start a lesson with a Qigong ("chee-gung") exercise. Then you will first learn Yang Style 8 Form. Yang style is the most common and gentle among the five main Tai Chi styles. These forms are the foundation of Tai Chi forms, so we don't cut corners and take time to master them before moving on to another Yang Style Form.

What Do I Need for Lessons?
Bring yourself and patience! Wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes (no sandals). Water.
