How Reiki Benefits
I use Reiki as a complimentary tool for managing stress and pain and speeding up recovery from injury, surgery and illness. Reiki can be used safely to reduce side-effects of medical treatments such as chemotherapy while you are receiving treatments. It also helps with psychological and emotional problems, and correct your unhealthy and counterproductive habits.
What is Jikiden Reiki?
I use Reiki following the Jikiden Reiki method. Jikiden means "direct lineage" and Jikiden Reiki adheres to the traditional methods that have been preserved within Japan for over a century, so it doesn't contain any foreign concepts such as chakras and auras, which were added after Reiki spread to the West in 1980s. The Jikiden Reiki methods are the most true to the practices that Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, one of the 20 designated Shihan (teachers) by the founder, Mikao Usui, observed. As I grew up in Japan, I feel most aligned with the Jikiden Reiki practice, which is rooted in Japanese culture. Whatever technique is used, Reiki supports your healing process. For those who are familiar with Reiki, the following information may be helpful.
Jikiden Reiki does NOT involve the following elements, which are often found in Western Reiki:
-
Chakras
-
Auras
-
Karma
-
Crystals, angels or other tools
-
Cleansing/Shielding
-
Cord cutting
-
Healing of past or future
Jikiden Reiki emphasizes:
-
Hands placed directly on the body, and massage-like light manipulation
-
No fixed hand positions
-
Finding Byosen, a blockage of the flow of energy, which tends to develop illness
-
Not allowing to be combined with any other energy work or therapies such as aroma therapy or sound therapy to preserve the original method
- Present-focused
- The Five Principles (Gokai) as the basic philosophy of life: "Just for today, Do not be angry, Do not worry, Be grateful, Do your duties fully, Be kind to others"
