Massage Therapy as Complementary Medicine

You might have heard massage therapy as "alternative medicine." Alternative medicine is used "instead of" mainstream medical care. I know that massage alone can't improve clients' conditions or offer maximum benefits for them, and I never recommend my clients not to see conventional healthcare professionals. Instead, I always recommend my clients be checked by them first before seeing me. The term "alternative" for massage therapy is not accurate.
Instead, I encourage everybody to see massage therapy as complementary medicine. Complementary medicine is used together with mainstream medical care. More studies have shown that massage therapy is beneficial for many medical conditions. And, it has become known for non-invasive treatment with fewer side effects. You might see this integrative medicine in big cities, but unfortunately, not yet in my area. I hope that more healthcare professionals recognize massage therapy as "complementary medicine" and want to work with us.
